Contact and Report a DMV Fee Correction

Use this form to report a problem in a DMV Fee Calculator page: a wrong figure, an incomplete rule, a broken primary-source link or worksheet behavior that does not match its stated scope. Reports go to the independent DMV Fee Calculator Editorial Team. They do not go to your DMV, county treasurer or tax collector, and they do not start an official registration, appeal, exemption request or refund.

What makes a registration report reproducible

Include the jurisdiction page, transaction type, applicable registration period and public source. Explain the fee line that differs and the inputs needed to reproduce it. An agency table's title, effective date and row are more useful than a statement that your whole bill is higher. The known subtotal can correctly omit a county assessment or service charge; first check the unresolved list and the page's supported vehicle class.

For a California issue, identify whether the disputed figure is VLF, TIF, a base fee or a ZEV renewal component. For DC, distinguish shipping-weight registration from raw-weight title excise and identify city MPG rather than combined MPG. For an electric surcharge that changes during a year, specify the registration period beginning date. If you report an annual indexed amount, link the new agency notice instead of assuming an older table carried forward.

Keep personal vehicle records out of the message

Please do not include a VIN, plate number, registration account, full street address, insurance policy, payment card, agency login or photograph of an identifiable notice. A made-up vehicle value and weight can demonstrate most arithmetic bugs. If the rule depends on a private assessment history or an exemption decision, ask the agency to explain that determination. We can correct how the site describes its scope without collecting the record itself.

The page box takes a path on this site, such as /texas/. Add an email only if you want an answer; we do not promise a reply time. We save the problem type, page path, your explanation and any email, together with the submission date, in our corrections table. The privacy notice treats this text you chose to send separately from the worksheet inputs that never leave your browser.

After you submit

The confirmation line only tells you the report reached our table. Nobody has agreed yet that the fee you cite is right: we open the agency schedule or statute you named, check which registration period and vehicle class it covers, and rerun the receipt with your inputs. A substantive fix should update the explanation and relevant tests before release. Application deadlines and payment obligations continue while we investigate, so direct urgent agency questions to the official office linked on your state page.

Our methodology describes the component arithmetic and our editorial policy describes the source hierarchy. You can also use this channel for a privacy question or to identify a previously submitted report for an access or deletion request. Provide only what is necessary to identify the report.
