Wyoming / ordinary passenger renewal

Wyoming registration fee calculator

Wyoming combines a state passenger fee with a county fee based on recorded factory value and year of service. Effective July 1, 2026, the annual electric decal fee is $100 and the plug-in hybrid decal fee is $50. Older $200 electric-fee pages describe a prior schedule.

Primary agency schedules and enacted rules checked October 1, 2026.

Transaction type

Use the registration period start for dated fuel surcharges; some state fields separately ask for expiration or assessment year. Blank uses today. Unpublished successor fees require an agency assessment.

Use the registration/title Fact Price and any taxable special equipment confirmed by the treasurer. Do not substitute purchase price or resale value.

Full annual passenger renewal dated July 1–December 31, 2026. Confirm factory/equipment value and service year with the county treasurer.

Calculate the county value component

The county formula applies 3% to a service-year share of factory value: 60% in year one, 50% in year two, 40% in year three, 30% in year four, 20% in year five and 15% in year six or later. W.S. 31-3-101 sets a $5 minimum county fee.

For a county-confirmed factory/equipment value of $20,000 in the first year of service, the county component is $20,000 × 60% × 3% = $360. Adding the $30 passenger state fee gives $390 before a fuel decal or other adjustments. In the sixth year, that same recorded value gives $90 county plus $30 state.

The value is not your negotiated purchase price, trade-in difference or current resale estimate. County guidance points to the factory-price record on registration/title documents. Ask the treasurer to confirm applicable special equipment; assistive-device value is excluded by the statute.

A first-year value of $100 would yield only $1.80 before the minimum. The supported county amount is therefore $5, with a $35 state-plus-county subtotal. An exemption or new-registration proration needs its own county determination.

Use the post-July 2026 decal amount

The enacted 2026 HB0145, Act 33, reduces the electric decal amount to $100 and adds a $50 plug-in hybrid category effective July 1. Natrona County’s current fee guidance implements those amounts. Some other official pages still display the older $200 electric figure.

For the $20,000 first-year example, a fully electric passenger car has $360 county + $30 state + $100 decal = $490. A plug-in hybrid has $440. A non-plug-in hybrid does not receive the plug-in decal line in this model.

This is a full annual passenger renewal. New arrivals, partial terms, trucks, special plates and veteran exemptions can change the transaction. Do not use the ordinary passenger state amount for a weight-based truck or apply a full-year example to an already-prorated county quote.
